PLEASE SUPPORT OUR ENVIRONMENTAL INITIATIVE
We're trying to help conserve our planets finite resources by:
Reducing the amount of glass we buy
We’re using our large stock of old glasses to reduce the number of new glasses we need and help keep the festival cool and secure, reducing the risk of transmission by using a fresh glass for every drink. A limited number of Souvenir ‘keep sake’ etched tankards are available for purchase online at £3.00 (1/2 pint) and £4.00 (pint) each.
Reducing the amount of paper and printed materials
We’re making our festival programme available to download in a printable, digital format and reducing our order for printed programmes, cutting both waste and our carbon footprint. For collectors and anyone for whom part of their festival experience is having a printed programme, these are now available to purchase online at £2.00 each (while stocks last).
Reducing our carbon footprint
We’re working closely with our suppliers to consolidate deliveries using wholesalers and partner brewers to reduce the number of trucks and vans bringing beer and cider to us. We’re supporting the CAMRA ‘Locale’ initiative. When you see the logo the beer you are drinking is environmentally friendly. It has been produced within 30 miles of the Festival.
Eliminating single-use plastics
Our food vendors are using only recyclable alternatives, we’ve dispensed with plastic cups and we’re serving soft drinks and other alcoholic drinks in reusable glasses ….. and we’re working with our suppliers and vendors to reduce other packaging waste and plastics.
We want to eliminate waste to landfill
Working with St Edmundsbury Cathedral, and their waste management contractor, West Suffolk Council, we’re trying to avoid sending waste to landfill and incineration. The Festival is being sorted at our in-house recycling facility. Please help us in our objective by using the bins provided.
We’re trying to help protect our planet, so please embrace our initiative and help our Festival goal to become carbon neutral.
