Become a Volunteer
The Beer Festival relies on volunteers for its success. We need more than 150 volunteers to cover a wide variety of tasks – bar, customer facing, backroom and more.
Whatever your skill set, there’s be a role for you! If you’d like be part of this year’s fun in the knowledge that you are helping local charities and good causes, then please contact us!
Over the last two festivals £24,000 has been donated to charity, with over £175,000 since the festival started.

Volunteer information – this information was sent to volunteers:
Dear Volunteer,
Thank you for signing up to volunteer at the 33rd East Anglian Beer and Cider Festival – we couldn’t do it without you!
Here are a few key things to know before your shift:
Arrive at your scheduled start time. There is some overlap between shifts, so no need to arrive too early.
Go to the Volunteers’ Sign-In Hub via the Cathedral car park, there will be signage. When you arrive, please sign-in and collect your volunteer wristband. You will also be told the area where you will be volunteering and where you need to go.
Read the induction information before your shift – you will be required to confirm that you have read this when you sign in for each session. Here’s the link: https://tinyurl.com/2wy7ht9f
Refresh yourself on our Health & Safety information by re-reading the volunteer handbook. Here’s the link: https://tinyurl.com/2cwvrydt
Wear comfortable shoes – you’ll likely be on your feet a lot. But no flip flops or sliders please.
Refreshments – tea, coffee, and similar drinks will be available for volunteers.
Food options – during public sessions there will be food stalls on site where you can purchase meals, or you’re welcome to bring your own.
Beer sampling – you’re welcome to sample beers within reason whilst volunteering.
Free entry to other sessions – you can stay on after your shift or return for other sessions free of charge (just note that you’ll still need to pay for any beer you drink).
Festival set-up and tear down
- If you are volunteering during set-up or tear down, please wear sturdy shoes (safety shoes if you have them).
- There is a wide range of tasks to be completed during this time – some more strenuous than others – so roles will be allocated during the sessions to make sure everyone can support in the most helpful way.
We’re looking forward to seeing you and making this year’s festival another great success.
Best regards,
The East Anglian Beer & Cider Festival Team
