There are a number of exciting events throughout the Festival period with many themed sessions to add interest and colour!

WEDNESDAY

12:00 FESTIVAL OPENS

Be the first through the door to get your favourite beer before it’s gone and sample our unprecedented range of beers and ciders!

14:00 We showcase the festival to the licenced trade; Brewers, Producers, Publicans, Landlords and Landladies, suppliers to the Licenced Trade and anyone who works within it are welcome to join us for the afternoon. To obtain a ‘Trade invite’ click here
15:00 Festival welcome by Roger Protz. Official Festival opening by the Rt. Hon Cllr Margaret Marks, Mayor of St Edmundsbury.
15:30 'Meet the Brewer’ brewery to be confirmed. Another opportunity to find out how the brewing magic happens! – with tutored tastings. FREE event, Registration required. To book a space click here
16:30 Singers from Bury St Edmunds Amateur Operatic & Dramatic Society preview their current Theatre Royal Performance with songs from 'The Sound of Music'
17:30 Evening session – Tonight we pay tribute to our ARMED FORCES AND EMERGENCY SERVICES. FREE ADMISSION for Warrant or I.D. holding Forces (UK & USAF) and Emergency Services employees and Blue Light cardholders.
18:30 Beer Masterclass ‘Beers from the Wood’ presented by Roger Protz. FREE event, Registration required. To book a space click here
19:30 Festival ‘Jam & open mic session’ on our Charter Square sound stage. For details and to register to perform click here
Throughout the evening local choral singers, "The Shanty Folk" will provide acoustic entertainment in the top shelf lounge during the jam session intervals

12:00 FESTIVAL OPENS
All the beers will have settled and conditioned; the first chance to enjoy the full range of exciting beers we have on offer this year.

12:30 'Meet the Maltster'. Lawrence Plant, UK Craft Manager for Pauls Malt will introduce you to malting and its part in the brewing process - with tutored tastings. Registration required. To book a space click here

17:30 Evening session – Tonight is ‘Ladies night’; reduced price Pimms & Prosecco and prizes for the most glamourous outfits!
OFFICE PARTIES are welcome! Maybe a ‘Leaving Do’ or an impromptu night out with your colleagues we’ll make you all the more welcome with a 4 FOR 3 deal on admission until 18:30. Why not add a bit of fun to your evening and come in fancy dress? Prizes for the best fancy dress theme!

18:30 Bury Male Voice Choir provide our early evening entertainment with a wide ranging repertoire of popular songs, old and new
19:30 It’s Bardfest ‘Battle of the Bands’ night on the sound stage in Charter Square; help decide which band will be chosen to play as a supporting act at this summer’s Bardfest music festival.

FRIDAY

12:00 FESTIVAL OPENS

We’ll be restocking our bars throughout the Festival so there’ll still be a wide range of beers and ciders to enjoy! Use our on-line beer and cider checker to see what’s available.

The sound stage is available throughout the lunch-time period for amateur local performers to showcase their talents – buskers, musicians, choirs and entertainers of any genre are welcome. If you would like to perform and help raise money for our charitable causes contact us.

13:00 until 15:30 local musician and busker Adam Thomas moves his town centre pitch to Charter Square and The Apex to entertain with his easy listening style of street music
15:30 ‘Meet the Brewer’ with Ross O'Hara, Greene King's youngst Head Brewer. Another opportunity to find out how the brewing magic happens! – with tutored tastings. FREE event, Registration required. To book a space click here.
17:30 Evening session – Friday night is always our most popular session and this year will be no exception! Partying and dancing in Charter Square, acoustic entertainment in the ‘Top Shelf’ lounge and all the traditional beer festival attractions – with a twist - in The Apex! 18:30 Early evening entertainment by Haverhill Silver Band
19:30 Tonight our FREE headline entertainment on the Charter Square sound stage is BOOTY & THE BEATZ – a popular local group who will entertain with a mix of hits from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s including some of the most popular party numbers – so come on down and dance the evening away. 20:30 While the headline act takes their breaks and when the Charter Square music finishes there will also be acoustic entertainment in the ‘Top Shelf’ lounge.

SATURDAY

11:30 FESTIVAL OPENS
An earlier opening provides the opportunity to make the most of our final session. Our cellar staff will have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure the largest possible selection of real ale and ciders remain available for your enjoyment. Click here to see today’s choice.

Today we also welcome our American friends from near-by air bases and the local community and any other visitors too. Come along dressed in red, white and blue to help create a unique Anglo-American beer festival experience.

12:30 Our final ‘Meet the Brewer’ with Humpty Dumpty's, Lesley George the female arm of the brewerys award winning team. Another opportunity to find out how the brewing magic happens! – with tutored tastings. FREE event, Registration required. To book a space Click here.
13:00 THIS AFTERNOON FAMILY’S ARE WELCOME! FREE admission, FREE Entertainer and affordable soft drinks for children (under 16) accompanied by a parent/guardian. Throughout the afternoon ‘Charlie Cheesecake’ will keep our younger visitors amused with a disco, balloon modelling, bubble fun & games - so mum and dad can relax and enjoy a drink! 13:30 Afternoon musical entertainment is provided by THE SOUND COLLECTIVE. Enjoy the festival buzz in Charter Square to the echoes of Rythum, Blues and American Soul and many more toe tapping tunes during this three-set session (Band plays until 17:00).
18:00 BARS CLOSE to get ready for the party!

19:00 The doors re-open for a fabulous festival ‘after-party’. All drinks* £2.50 pint/serving.

The party entertainment is provided by the fabulous Colchester band, THE RHYTHM ROCKITS, with their unique Retro blend of hits old and new. Band plays until 22:45. Listen to the band here
