As responsible Festival organisers we encourage the use of Public Transport and Bury St Edmunds is well served by many services.


Greater Anglia provide an hourly link from Cambridge, Newmarket, Stowmarket, Needham Market and Ipswich. The last train in the eastbound direction departs after the festival closes at 23:29. That in the Westbound direction leaves at 21:56. A two hourly direct service operates from Peterborough, March and Ely. ‘Group Saver’ tickets offer affordable discounted travel for groups of three or more. The nearest airport is London, Stansted (STN); an hourly connecting rail service, via Cambridge, operates between the airport and Bury St Edmunds. Public Transport links are also available from London, Southend and London, Luton airports.

Local services in Bury St Edmunds are provided by Mulleys and Stephensons. All of these, along with most of the regional services, stop in St Andrews Street South, adjacent to The Arc and the Beer Festival entrance.

By Road

BURY ST EDMUNDS is well connected and on the A14 trunk route from Newmarket, Cambridge, Ipswich, the Midlands and the North. Access from the South is via the M11 motorway and A11. Local A roads connect with Norwich, Ipswich, Stowmarket, Diss, Thetford, Kings Lynn, Colchester, Sudbury and Haverhill.

Car parking in the town is plentiful. The nearest to the Festival is The Arc Car Park, known locally as the Old Cattle Market, conveniently located off The Parkway (southbound). The nearest long stay car park is located opposite, off The Parkway (northbound). For car parking by SAT NAV use the postcode IP33 3BA  and follow the local car park signage.

Taxi Services

Our preferred Taxi provider and Festival sponsor is A1 Cars. Their booking line phone number (01284 766777) is shown on your entrance wristband or book on line. Mention the Beer Festival when booking to receive a preferential service.

Other Taxi providers are available; these include Foxy Cars, Getaway Cars and First Stop Travel. The public taxi rank is located adjacent at the Corn Exchange a short walk towards the town centre from the Festival venue.
